COMMISSONS

Artistic Director Cameron McKinney has received over 30 commissions from colleges, universities, companies, festivals, and institutions across the country and internationally.

 

Past Commissions Include: The Ailey School, Princeton University, United States - Japan Friendship Commission, Let's Dance International Dance Frontiers, Montclair State University, Alfred University, Marymount Manhattan College, Brigham Young University, Swarthmore College, Create:Art, The Dance Gallery Festival, Periapsis Music and Dance, and Joffrey Ballet School, among numerous others. 

 

Here are a selection of past commissions.

TOKIMEKI BLUE 

An immersive video installation that integrates dance and film, TOKIMEKI BLUE is a collaboration between choreographer Cameron McKinney and filmmaker Cayla Mae Simpson. Inspired by the Japanese onomatopoeia tokimeki, the sound of a heart discovering love, the work uses McKinney's idiosyncratic movements and Simpson's dynamic visuals to reveal the vibrancy of self-discovery.

STRANGE ATTRACTOR 

A strange attractor refers to a complex and intricate geometric structure that arises in chaotic dynamics. It is composed of an uncountable set of points that form intricate patterns in the plane, resembling a folded line with gaps between the strands.

The Facade of Order 

Through a movement language that blends contemporary floorwork, streetdance styles, and capoeira, The Facade of Order peels back the curtain of the thin layer of civility that superficially blankets the chaos of the human condition.
