FATHER ABSENCE | MOTHER MA brings a hyperphysical focus to the Japanese concept of ma, or possibilities inherent in the empty spaces between objects and bodies – a view of nothingness that allows multiple interpretations of reality to exist simultaneously. Through a movement language that blends streetdance styles, capoeira, and contemporary floorwork, the work will explore the multiversality of loss and feelings of being left behind.

MIXED REPERTORY EVENING

45 - 60 MINUTES

KIZUNA DANCE performs an exceptional program of its repertory from across our ten year history. May also include Artistic Director Cameron McKinney's works commissioned by various national and international institutions. All inspired by aspects of the Japanese language and culture, the various works highlight the company's idiosyncratic mix of streetdance styles, capoeira, and contemporary floorwork.

An example program would be excerpts of repertory works SAFE HARBOR, FATHER ABSENCE | MOTHER MA, and E.X.P.L.O.D.E.
